Romania Tour 14 days / 8 different beds

We take the metro to Piata Romana and then a walk through Bucharest (too busy traffic to the bus to do). The boulevard Gheorghe Magheru, with many hotels, jewelers, maybe even a few kiosks on the sidewalk. Through Piata Universitatii and Piata Unirii, (a large part of the old city had been flat for Ceausescu ‘Champs Elysées’, which we walk) to the ‘Casa Poporului’, present parliament, that we visit.

We deal with a local guide for an hour a part of the building (10 stories tall and 8 delve underground) off. It is the second largest after the Pentagon building in the world. In Manuc Hanul, a typical Maramures building blocks in the center, we have the opportunity to drink coffee. Through the Calea Victoriei to church Stavropoleos and restaurant “Caru cu Bere”, something specific, we take our lunch.

We see the Cercul Militar National, the Royal Palace (Palatul Regal), the Ateneum, the Bucharest City Hall and can walk in pedestrian streets.

The old city center, completely renovated in ’07 Sibiu because the cultural capital of Europe. The major shopping street brings us to the Piata Mare and Piata Mica, which the different churches and Bruckentall museum with medieval paintings found. This visit however. Through the side streets we come to the old city, where we can walk along.

We are in the home of our guide, so many visits: Through Sieu to Botiza, with Ana Trifoi, she weaves naturally colored wool makes beautiful rugs of , in Bârsana one wood sculptor, his studio and a small museum and the monastery in typical Maramures style in Sirbi a watermill and a combustion plant of liquor, the wooden church of Rozavlea and Dragomiresti a museum, a typical Maramures house in the earlier years.

We visit the monastery Moldovita protected by UNESCO, a non guides for Flemings understood German, eggmuseum, 4000 eggs were processed and a museum with wood tools from the past

along the lake Izvorul Muntului through the gap Cheie Bicaz and Lacul Rosu to Praid. We visit the salt mine, where in the halls a playground, sports facilities, a museum and a church. It is used as a spa for asthma sufferers.

We are a Hungarian speaking part of Romania came through Miercurea Ciuc, Sf Gheorghe to Brasov

Brasov, just go through the old town, visit the Black Church, a totally different picture in this industrial city. Romania without visiting Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) can be difficult, so we do.

The Peles Castle in Sinaia, the former king, we added, through Ploiesti to Bucharest, with a farewell dinner we say ‘goodbye’ to our Flemish guide.

Arriving in Borsa in b&b Borsa-Turism (4 nights)

we walk in the center of Borsa, we take lunch in Perla Maramuresului and in the afternoon we hike for 3 hours on a coast and back near a little river.

 a trip of 10 km with a minibus to the Complex Turistic for hiking to the waterfall Cascade Caiilor, 70 m high. We go from 900 m to 1340 m., furher on to the lake Stiol. Now we are on 1600 m seelevel and walk on a forest road trough the fields and the forest to the pas Prislop

 climb to the top of the Pietrosul, 2303 m high, 1600 m height, around 5 hours climbing.

 we are brought to Bogdan Voda (1 hour) and trough Ieud (a wooden church from 15-th century) to Botiza walking over the hills, dinner and staying in b&b.

 we walk over the hills on a forest road trough the fields, trough small villages to come to the wooden monastry of Barsana and a sculptor of wood in Bârsana. 

we are brought to Ocna Sugatag, walking over the fields trough Hoteni and Breb to historic Budesti and Sirbi where we find a watermill. Trough Calinesti back to Ocna Sugatag, dinner and staying in b&b.

back to Borsa or the airport
